Heidi
Meet Heidi, a 16-year-old Latino girl born in 1991. She is in need of a loving adoptive home. Heidi has a sweet and easygoing demeanor. She is non-verbal, but expresses her need through facial expressions and gestures. She thrives on attention and affection, and responds well to positive reinforcement. Heidi enjoys watching television, coloring and spending time with friends.
Heidi is receiving special education services for developmental delayed children, and loves going to school. Heidi is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, mental retardation, hearing loss, and fetal alcohol syndrome. She has a history of self-injury behavior, due to her limited speech, but this behavior is decreasing as she learns how to express her frustration through signing. She is a Regional Center client and receives a range of services including speech and occupational therapy.
Heidi needs a home that will assist her with learning self-help skills, daily living skills, and possibly a vocation. She needs an adoptive family who will care for her through adulthood.
If you are interested in adopting Heidi, please contact the Department of Children and Family services at (626) 229-3790.
